Pastor Robert Dyson, of the International Church of Overcomers, has nothing but questions about why Farmers Insurance has delayed in honoring the churches claim for a loss that was reported on August 13, 2012. Pastor Dyson questions why Farmers has yet to settle a claim after all paperwork and documentation has been provided per Farmer’s requests.
- Is it because of the size of the ministry that serves 1000’s but is small in numbers?
- Is it because they serve senior citizens, veterans, youth, single parents, homeless, and individuals with felony convictions?
- Is it because of their demographic location?
- Is it because of the ethnicity of their leadership?
- Is it because they were a new customer who was solicited by Farmers agents?
- Is it just plain corporate greed?
Church officials and members believe Farmers appears to have a system in place that’s accepted across the board. Black agents acquire policies from black owned and operated businesses. When a loss occurs they send in white adjusters, white supervisors and white attorneys and delay and avoid paying claims for losses.
Among other things, the claim filed included the clean-up from fire extinguisher chemicals which had been sprayed throughout the building. The health of eight individuals was put into jeopardy as Farmers placed a dollar amount over safety by neglecting reports provided by a third party of the health risk of the chemical agent. Adjuster Jim Folsom disclosed a bid for the cleanup from a black contractor to a white contractor. The white contractor provided a bid for $200 less but the overall bid was $1600.00 higher for additional work required. The contractor sent by Farmers got sick from the chemical. The contractor notified Farmers but they still neglected to provide the resources to fix the health issue.
Farmers Insurance, including Help Point Services employees Jim Folsom, Lauren Baker and Paul Antonucci, have exceeded the 90 days allowed to settle a claim according to Lauren Baker in a recorded conversation. The church is asking the following Farmers executives to provide the answers to why the claim not has been settled despite the church’s efforts to provide all documentation Farmer’s has asked for: Jefferey John Dailey CEO/President; Dr. Axel P. Lehmann, Chairman and Group Chief Risk Officer; Scott Lindquist, Thomas J. White, Leonard H. Gelfand, Mhayse Samalya, Susan Bithell, Stephen Boshoven, Todd Brooks, Jerry Carnahan and Keitha Schofield.
In addition, Farmers Insurance canceled the churches policy after the claim was filed.
