The Art Lover in You

written by Dennis S Murray Sr.

What is the beauty of Art to you in a world defined by political uncertainty, economic unrest, and the disruption of our textbooks as they are being dismantled in our school system, along with the corporate greed that alienates 85% of the population? But when you think about it is plenty of history that no textbook or movie can provide to you when you google or visit the   Washington, DC, African American History Museum because it allows you to see a sense of your history as a Black person while understanding the ancestral history that helps you reflect and be honest about once you became and allow yourself to grow into your self-worth and on the other hand we must include the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama, that displays the history of slavery and racism in America as well to include the enslavement of African-Americans, racial lynching's, segregation, and racial bias nationwide which continues to filter into our 21st Century 2024.

However, I wanted you to look at some of the extraordinary artists who have graced us with their vision on canvas and print through the lens of their ideas in fluorescent colors, black, and white. Yes, in black and white there were artists that orchestra beauty with their caring strokes of the brush or iron works that open your eyes as an artist lover. Throughout that day, I met with a brilliant artist Najee Dorsey who displayed the beauty of caring about what it means to love the colors that God has given him to open your census and your eyes to detail as he courageously defines gravity while divesting you into an emerging culture that helps you forget the problems in America or just shock into being alive as a black person in America with hers art. I was honored to stand by and take a picture with Mr. Dorsey in the orange t-shirt in front of some of his portraits.

I had the luxury of visiting a place Mr. Dorsey calls home, in East Point, Georgia called the Black Art in America Galley and Garden located at 1802 Connally Drive; East Point, GA 30344 for 2024 The Black Art Family Reunion, Juneteenth Celebration June 14-16, 2004. This past week highlighted additional canvases from well-known artists across the globe as well. This was fitting because it was my 70th birthday celebration, joined by my beautiful wife Cleah, an artist famous for her fashion designs at Cleahdesigner.com. It was a hot day when we entered the art museum and were casually greeted by Dontanarious Kelly a volunteer artist in his own right who was extremely knowledgeable and gracious as he discussed some of the artwork on display in the museum, with the color dynamics that perch your soul as we reviewed each art piece on display with color commentary as we walked around the magnificent place grazing into the canvas colors as if we were sitting on a rainbow of Black artistry.

His contemporary American visual artistry is known for using media, collages, paint, and photographic works to depict Southern African American experience and culture as well is the Masthead of the Black Art in America Gallery surrounded by a garden that needs to be on the cover of House in Garden magazine.

We sat for a while reviewing some of Mr. Dorsey’s collection pieces, which took my breath away even more as we reflected on the culture and vibrant history that we encountered while inside the museum but, outside on the building walls full of wonderful colors were artistic magical creations that express the love of a father tightly holding his baby under his arms as the artist demonstrated one's love, on Father’s Day and beyond.

The art mural wasn’t completed but we visualize the creativity and sensitivity that illustrated his work as we both were taken back in uh as he delivered a piece of continuous joy and greatness, as black men sharing his vision on a wall of canvas for all to see. The Art museum brings light into your heart and the population of diverse minds being embraced through the beautiful light that shields us from the ugly that lingers around us in politics, so if you live in Atlanta, GA visit, East Point, GA one of its adjoining neighbors and take in this breath taken moments at the Black Art in America experience with Najee Dorsey an icon of the art world and purchase one of the many artistic works on display by him and other great American artist and bring you lunch to sit in the magical garden of Eden.

Is it because of the size of the ministry that serves 1000’s but is small in numbers? Is it because they serve senior citizens, veterans, youth, single parents,

Nepotism is Favoritism, Dennis S Murray sr

We reelect President Obama with the problems that persisted in the world of economics and didn’t select Republican candidate Mitt Rommery whom claims to have had America ’s vision in the grasp of his hand, but many of the underserved didn’t feel that way about him and some didn’t feel President Obama either. Who became our savior and voice of the American people? Who do you really believe, none of the above! Since 2008 many people have lost everything that they have worked very hard for throughout their adult professional life and in 2013 people are still losing everything in numbers and those that put us in this mess just got richer. The job market has proven that regardless of your professional aptitude nepotism plays a key role in many of those that are selected to gain and secure employment. However, Discrimination is not the dirty word in the market place of 2013 anymore even though African American unemployment rate continues to double while white unemployment rate decease

The Problems Black Men Face in America

The Problems Black Men Face in America By Dennis S Murray Sr. In 2008 we elected the First African American President of the United States of America and the racial issues escalated to new extremes. Negative reports were made on this scholar and professional that were unfounded and disrespectful to any man regardless of color, but color was the underlining factors and reasoning for this spike in racial activities against an African American Man with extreme prejudice. In 2012 a majority reelected President Obama because they felt that he was leading America and the world in the right direction.   Despite the outcry of voter suppression that tried to deliberately violate ones civil rights to vote led by aging white Republicans still of the Willie Lynch era. Those majorities especially Black males continue to be deprived of equal justices in America despite our contributions made to America . Just look at the numerous inventions, land, and ideas stolen by Whites due to gre
